Volunteer FAQs

Who can volunteer at St Joseph’s Home (STJH)?

We welcome anyone who is interested in the healthcare and/or eldercare sector! Please note that we require our volunteers to be age 18 and above.

How do I become a volunteer?

Kindly complete our volunteer Application Form. This link will take you to the volunteer sign-up form of Catholic Welfare Services (CWS), our parent organisation. Please note that you would need a working email address. Once done, one of our Volunteer Managers will get in touch with you.

Are there any pre-requisites?

As long as you have a passion to serve and willingness to learn, we welcome you as our volunteer. For pre-requisites for specific programmes, please refer to our list of volunteer opportunities.

What are the volunteering opportunities available?

Check out our Volunteer Opportunities for current programmes available. If you’ve ideas for collaboration, please feel free to call us at +65 6268 0482 or email volunteer@stjh.org.sg.

How long must I commit to a volunteering opportunity? If I cannot commit to a regular volunteering schedule, can I still volunteer?

You can opt for regular, project-based or ad-hoc opportunities. As a general guideline, we encourage volunteers to commit at least six months and for one session per month.

Will I receive volunteer training?

Yes! St Joseph’s Home believes in empowering and equipping our volunteers. For new volunteers, you will get to attend an orientation conducted by CWS and a Basic Volunteer Training by STJH.

Can I volunteer with my friend?

Can I collaborate with St Joseph’s Home and plan my own Volunteer Programme?

Our volunteer programmes are designed to champion holistic and person-centred care, and so they range from supporting our care services to organising activities to enhance our residents’ experience.

If you’ve a programme you feel is well-suited for our residents, please feel free to call us at +65 6268 0482 or email volunteer@stjh.org.sg to discuss further. We’d be happy to hear from you!

I am already a volunteer with STJH/STH/VF. Do I still need to register on the VMS?

Yes, all volunteers would need to register in the Volunteer Management System (VMS). To ensure a smooth and consistent experience for our volunteers, CWS has implemented a central VMS.

As a transition to this digital experience, there may be some technical issues. We do seek your understanding as we iron these out. For some volunteers, we may need you to register again. For others, we may need your help to update personal information.

Please contact your volunteer manager for specific updates and guidance.

How do I edit or update my particulars?

Kindly contact our Volunteer Managers who will do the necessary updates.

How is my data being protected?

We value your privacy and the data that you provide us will remain confidential. Only the staff from St Joseph’s Home (STJH) and Catholic Welfare Services (CWS), our parent organisation, will have access to them. They will only be used for the purposes of your volunteer journey with us.

What are the benefits of volunteering with STJH?

In your journey as a STJH volunteer, you will receive ongoing training on palliative, dementia and topics related to the care of our residents.

You would also be invited to join exclusive engagement opportunities for our care and community partners.

Do you provide volunteer acknowledgement letters?

Please let us know that you require volunteer acknowledgement letters during your volunteer application.

What should I do if I am sick or need to take a break?

Please feel free to inform or speak with your Volunteer Managers.
