List of Projects

We require our volunteers to commit at least three to six months, for once a month.

Hairstylist

You are contribute to our residents looking good, and more importantly, feeling good!

As a hairstylist, you’d:
• Be in charge of trimming, styling, and air blowing our resident’s hair
• Engage residents with chit chats or drinks and snacks while they are at the Giggle Palace
• Keep the Giggle Palace clean and tidy
• Porter our residents from their clusters to the Giggle Palace

Pre-requisites: Basic hair cutting skills

Project Grand Friend-er

You provide a listening ear, friendly face and valuable friendship to our residents.

As a PGF-er, you’d:
• Befriend our residents over video calls
• Prepare games and activities to engage residents during these calls

Pre-requisites: Able to commit one hour, every week for a minimum of six months

Culinary Arts Trainer

Put on your best apron because you will be cooking up a whole range of dishes with our residents.

As a culinary arts trainer, you’d:
• Make lesson plans and prep ingredients for the session
• Facilitate and guide residents during the session
• Get to know our residents and encourage participation
• Adhere to safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Porter our residents from their clusters to the Funhouse

Baristas and Attendants

You’d greet and befriend our residents, take food and beverage orders, and create a unique café experience within the Home.

As a coffee corner barista, you’d:
• Be in-charge of preparing beverages, food products, and handling various orders
• Help take orders and serve the food and drinks to residents, especially during peak periods
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Ensure that all items are washed, cleaned, dried, and stored

Pre-requisites: Confident behind and in front of the espresso machine.

As a coffee corner attendant, you’d:
• Help to take orders, serve food and drinks to residents
• May also assist in preparing beverages
• Provide excellent service

Beauticians

You provide the platform for self-love and self-expression through beauty and wellness.

As a beautician, you’d:
• Ensure that products are safe to use on residents
• Take stock of the products
• Create a relaxing environment for our residents
• Adhere to hygiene standards at all times
• Ensure that all items are sterilized, washed, cleaned, dried, and stored properly

Agriculturists

At St Joseph’s Home, we believe in providing holistic care for our residents. That means taking care of all aspects of resident’s well-being, including their environment!

As an agriculturist, you’d:
• Sow and harvest crops from our Edible Garden
• Share gardening tips with our residents
• Guide and assist residents in maintaining the garden
(for agriculturist, who also have a flair for cooking)
• Share recipes using the crops harvested from our Edible Garden
• Prepare the ingredients for cooking sessions using the harvested crops

Game show hosts

With fun and creativity, you and your team jazz up our residents’ day with games such as Bingo and the Price is Right!.

As show hosts, you and your team are:
• In charge of planning and preparing materials and prizes for various games
• The friendly faces that engage residents with chit chats or drinks and snacks during the session
• Helping with setting up and cleaning up
• Portering our residents from their clusters to the game area

Concert artistes

You and your team bring in the life and music with concert shows such as band performances, skit and dances.

As concert artistes, you and your team are:
• In charge of planning and preparing materials for various shows
• The friendly faces that engage residents with chit chats or drinks and snacks during the session

Drum Circle
(Open to suggestions on timings)

Boom da boom boomda… Music has a way of unifying people. It also offers an outlet to relax and release creative juices. What’s special about drum circle is that the experiencein the circle is the end in itself.Music not bounded by a genre, but co-created by participants. The instrument itself is also easy to pick up! Volunteers needed to facilitate and be part of this drum circle.

Night Café
(Friday nights)

Imagine barista coffee, live band and alfresco dining… residents get to bask in these vibes at our Night Café. Open after the sun goes down, it offers residents a space to chill and hang out with friends. More volunteers are needed to plan and execute themed projects.
