Your privacy is important to us and we endeavor to treat with respect the information you choose to disclose to us. This section sets out the way in which St Joseph’s Home (SJH) collects, uses, discloses and/or retains your personal data with respect to your volunteer journey.
Catholic Welfare Services (CWS), as our parent organisation, may also be involved in the collection, usage, disclosure and/or retention of your personal data in relation to your voluneer
(i) Personal Data
Personal data refers to any data and/or information, whether true or not, that could be used to identify you. Examples include, but are not limited to:
a. Name, identification card or any other identification number
b. Telephone number, mailing / email address or other contact information
c. Photographs, videos and audio recordings
d. Medical history, employment, volunteering and education background
(ii) Collection of your personal data
Personal data may be collected upon sign up on the CWS’ online application form or through SJH’s hard copy application forms. Personal data may also be collected verbally during a phone call or teleconference meeting, electronically via email, or observed, either during an interview or volunteering session. When you volunteer either onsite or online, photos, videos or audio may be documented as well.
(iii) Use of your personal data
Personal data is collected to allow us to better cater to your needs and interests as a volunteer. Personal data may also be used for educational and publicity purposes to further SJH’s mission. This includes using the photos, videos or audio recordings for publicity on SJH-owned channels, digital and print, and as teaching material for educational purposes.
(iv) Disclosure of your personal data
We may disclose your personal data to other staff of SJH where it is necessary to either address your query or feedback, or facilitate your volunteer work.
As we come under the Catholic Welfare Services, we may also disclose personal data to them to meet specific needs such as volunteer recruitment and fundraising. This includes sending you volunteer opportunities from other subsidiaries under CWS and newsletters to update you on latest volunteer-related programmes.
For third parties, we may disclose your personal data to them insofar as it is legally and/or medically necessary. But such disclosure will be limited strictly to official agencies, for instance, banks, hospitals, government regulators and / or our auditors.
We do not disclose your personal data to other third parties for any other purposes unless you have given prior consent.
(v) Withdrawal of consent to and correction of your personal data
You may write to us at volunteer@stjh.org.sg to withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal data or to correct personal information. Changes will be communicated to our parent organisation or any other third parties that have been authorised to access and/or use your personal data.
(vi) Protection of your personal data
To safeguard your personal data, we make reasonable security arrangements to prevent unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying and modification of the data. Such security arrangements include, but are not limited to, ensuring that staff workstations are secure and requiring employees to be bound by confidentiality obligations.
(vii) Retention of your personal data
We do not retain your personal data if it is no longer needed for legal or business purposes.
